The second stop will be at the University of Montana PEAS Garden. The bus will then leave for Sutherlin Red Angus where we will learn from the Sutherlin family about their ranch. . The final stop will be at Mytty Angus where we will partake in dinner and festivities. Don’t forget the famous stick horse race fundraiser for MSGA’s Research Education and Endowment Foundation (REEF) will also be featured at the last Ranch Tour stop.
Opening General Session
Join other progressive ranchers at the Opening General Session at 10:00 a.m. on June 7th! This portion off Mid- Year will gather ranchers together to discuss current issues affecting Montana’s Livestock Industry.
Digital Cafe
The Digital Cafe is the place to learn about social media! Many ranchers are using Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets to get their message out about every day agriculture. Lauren Chase, MSGA Multimedia Outreach Specialist, will be able to answer questions and sign up ranchers!
Committee Meetings
For those who would like to attend more than one committee meeting, they will be split between June 7 and 8. Beef Production & Marketing and Membership Development & Services Committee meetings will meet on June 7 and Land Use & Environment and Tax, Finance & Ag Policy Committee meetings will meet on June 8.
YSG Advocating for Ag Lunch
Hosted by the Young Stockgrowers this plated lunch will feature keynote speaker Captain Peter Shinn who will offer a compelling presentation about his experience in the Air National Guard. He led a group of soldiers into the heart of the most dangerous territory in Afghanistan in order to help Afghan farmers improve their profitability and feed their people. Agriculture is a key component to achieving peace and this former farm broadcaster was in the middle of it all!
